anti-spam code added

Posted by curson on March 19, 2006

A line must be drawn here!

After receiving something like 3-4 spamming comments (of the same kind…) a day, I decided to install Trencaspammer plugin. So now, you have to insert the “silly” code to post here… I don’t like it, but world isn’t a fair place.

For italian readers, I suggest to take a look to this post by Andrea Beggi for more informations about how to install it. It’s easy, but repeating can’t be so bad.

bye :)

layout 3

Posted by curson on January 24, 2006

You may, or may not, have noticed I’ve changed layout.
It’s part of my geeky nature to get easily tired of layouts and stuff like that, so here the new look. EquiX theme modified by me in some aspects, and here we come. Hope it’s readable also on IExplorer, I have tested it on Firefox, Konqueror and Opera only. But to be true, I don’t mind if it’s broken or not in IExplorer, as the footer suggests: pick up a real browser! :)

Update to Wordpress 2.0

Posted by curson on December 27, 2005

Here we come, the first post after updating to WordPress 2.0. So let’s take this as a chance both to test if everything is working 100% ok on the upgraded system (upgrading process was smooth… and this always scares me a little :p). Do you see this? :D

Indeed, the upgrading process is quite easy (even if it’s always a little thrilling to mess up with the blog) and I followed these steps while doing it.

Only thing I noticed, is: why my mouse selection is not working in text box while writing?
Maybe Opera fault? blah… I’ll find that out.

Enjoy!

Never… and I want to say never (again) think that your LinuxBox is not going to do what you’re asking. Even if what you are asking is to delete your /home, and even if you’re doing it just because you have fever at 37.7°C and you don’t know exactly what you’re doing anymore ;)

It’s nice to see this operative system works bad when I’m not enough concentrated on what I’m doing.

Anyway, I stopped it in time, and I found out that running my backup script every 3 days is good, but doing it every day is going to be even better.

Damn, I love Linux!

Bad music news

Posted by curson on October 24, 2005

This’s something that made my day a sad one… a very sad one indeed.
Got this bad news from a livejournal’s friend post this morning, and I’m really quite shocked about that. Seems something so out of the world or at least completly out of the way I imagined Nightwish as a band. One of my favourite band, I must say… don’t know how it’s going to be from now on.

I will investigate more about what’s happenend inside them that led to that decision, and I won’t stop hoping about a call-back in the near future. This’s just plain awful, no more words for it :(

Habemus ticket!

The gods are coming to Milan on the 29th of October!!
And I have my ticket now… my precious.

It’s always a nice feeling ;)

A little advice…

Once I had mp3s…
Then I discovered what’s called streaming-online-radio. And the world changed.
Ok, nothing so “impressive” by the way, I just wanted to suggest one nice radio-station for you to listen to.
Of course you have to like hard and heavy metal a lot, like I do.

Here is the link: http://heavymetalradio.com/.
If you’re lazy like me, here is the link to follow if you’d like to listen directly to it: listen.
Enjoy and… good night!

Technical problem

Posted by curson on September 10, 2005

It seems there are some troubles with my DB.
Nothing has been changed (at least not by me :P) on the-shrike.net recently, so I guess (…don’t know if it’s good or not to hope for it, indeed) these are problems with my hosting-DB service. Let’s just hope it’s because it’s Saturday and they’re taking advantage from low traffic to do some maintance job.

We’ll see tomorrow how’s going to go.

I like the way you move it!

Do you know that feeling, when you perfectly feel that strong geeky power rising inside you, becoming stronger and stronger each seconds letting you without breath?

YES, this’s definitely what has been happening to me in the past days.
I still didn’t understand too much about the Motorla+iPod things (saying this I say: I’m open to linkage with some news about that…) but recently I found myself deeply in love with one side of this “problem”, the almost-famous-everywehere-I-have-to-buy-one and infamous iPod!

- “Why?” (You will ask.)
- “Thank you for the question.” (I will answer.)

The real fact is: I NEED MORE FIREPOWER!!!
I’ve had a Creative Muvo NX MP3 player since almost 1 year and half by now, and apart some little misunderstanding in sorting the file in it while uploading them from Linux, I have to say I’m pretty satisfied by it. It’s small, it’s easy to use, and it has exactly what it is supposed to have, and nothing more or fancy/useless.

What’s the problem then?
It has only 256Mb, and they aren’t enough any more for me… at all!

Since I bought my brand new AudioCar system (a Sony… maybe I’ll write about it someday) I discovered the great and unlimited (:p) power of a full MP3 CD. With just 1 CD made at home from the Audio-CDs I have, even the 6 slots CD-Changer in my car seems useless; you have all the music you want for the longest drive you could ever imagine, and it’s just there in one single thing.

Now. Try to imagine how would be to have 20Gb of portable music, or even 40Gb… that’s what would be called a great F I R E P O W E R!!!
That’s the point.
I am not used to follow trend, or fashion, and I was avoiding the iPod mostly because of that, so hiding myself the power of having so much space so easy (and admit it, even beautiful looking) to carry around.
But now I’m definitely changing my mind about that… and I think my bank account will not like this, in a very near future.

It’s a geeky job, but someone has to do it ^_^

I think we’ve got it!
I’ve playied with customizing options and CSS all the day, and I think most of the work is now done.
Guess it is in the nature of a blog to keep changing, so I can’t say everything is done, but it’s surely enough to start with something I like (how it looks, it works and so on…).

It’s, indeed, still 4th of September so the birthday for cat /dev/urandom > /dev/brain it’s not going to be changed ;) and that’s good.

Now, it’s time to explore some nice plugins, and to go to find something to drink.
Good evening everyone.

Opps… I suppose the installation of WP went smooth and just plain fine :p
Everything seems to work perfectly, for now, and this’s good.

So, i will have a lot of customization to do, and a lot of work to be able to master all the power of this blog platform, but isn’t here all the fun?
