O M G! Now, tell me how am I supposed to resist until 29th of August to get them?

…that’s what I call a torture!
Wow, I really can’t wait to put my hands on these 3-CD and 2-DVD sets, that’s going to destroy my August salary, but it’s something I was looking for since the coming out of their last work: Octavarium. I don’t think I’ll ever stop thrilling about new DT’s work. They’re just the greatest!
A news that made my day!

Note: I’ll leave tomorrow for Male (Maldives) for my second work-flight. First one went smooth and even if I wasn’t able to blog from Cancun to report it directly, it was a fantastic experience all around.
Don’t tell anyone (:p) but I’m planning to realize a trip_report-project about all my working shifts around the world. I’m quite lazy and inconstant, but there are people around me asking for them and so I’ll do my best!
Stay tuned :p

Nix and Hydra

Posted by curson on June 24, 2006

On the 1st of November 2005 I blogged about the discoveries of two candidates to become newest knwon Pluto’s moon.
Finally, they got names and they’re now considered as two satellite of the most distant planet of the Solar System.

Pluto’s small moons were provisionally designated S/2005 P1 and S/2005 P2. They have now been officially christened Nix and Hydra. [..] Nix was the goddess of darkness and night and the mother of Charon, while Hydra was a nine headed monster and is now orbiting the solar system’s ninth planet.

The full, and detailed, article about this naming could be found here, and I also suggest to take a look at the pictures here too: the first one is really impressive, showing also Charon. It is good to know New Horizon is going to have so much to study once arrived to Pluto.

Anna the bot 4

Posted by curson on June 20, 2006

My passion for IRC is quite old. I came on-line for the first time in December 1994 with my 14600 baud modem, and since then I spent a lot of time on the various IRC networks around: IRCnet, QuakeNet, AzzurraNet, DalNET and EFnet.
I’m still on two of them quite in a stable way (EFnet & AzzurraNet) and I really still like the IRC world. It’s not just a matter of old feelings, I really still love it as one of the funniest and most interesting expression of Internet.

Speaking about funny and weird expression IRC-related, I stumbled across this amazing video.
Apparentrly, someone has dedicated a Trance song (ok, that’s not my kind, but I’m very open towards musical genres) to an IRC Bot called Anna. The video is something you have to see, it’s a really a good job, and to geeky to be left unseen!

Here you’ll find the video with english subtitles on Google Video. I’m not sure I found the real home page of the project, but actually the closer thing I found is at http://basshunter.m0o.eu/anna/ ;) (…but apparently I’m not able to see the video correctly from there).

In any case, I’ll host both the .avi and the .mp3 for quite some times here, hoping this is not going to freak out my bandwidth.
Here they are:

Have fun :D

Life and about 4

Posted by curson on June 09, 2006

And then, as it has begun, the Shirts Odyssey is finally almost over. Actually, that’s quite far from truth but it’s still a step in the right direction.
Anyway, for those of you not informed about it, the Shirts Odyssey was (is) my struggle with my airline to get what’s missing of my uniform: dress shirts.
They’re white, they’re quite anonymous, they’re even not too nice looking (ehm… maybe I shouldn’t be saying this :p) but apparently they’re very rare and very close to extinction. My last 10-15 days were spent trying to find at least two of them (the minimum requirement for a flight), but one flight lost *sigh* and a lot of headaches after I’ve finally managed to grab only 2 long-sleeves XL-size dres shirts.

And they are not even what I requested!

Ok, I’m not going to bother you with the description of how funny I look (I’m L-size shaped) in those two, they’re too big for me, but that’s the better we can do by now, and that must be enough. After my arrival from Cancun (on the 18th of June) I’ll look for the correct sized ones.

So, with the Odyssey finally almost over, here we come: I’m flight ready!
*gosh*
That’s something very exciting! ^___^

Anyway: the title of this post, and its categories, ask for something more and here it comes. I’d like to point you to an interesting post from Stuart at Astronomy Blog about Saturn’s moons and a very nice animation of the two. I suggest a reading, it’s very interesting, also because of the strange configuration of the ringed-giant planet and its various moon.
Fascinating… at least!

Take care! Maybe you’ll see the next blogging here from Mexico :)

Moscow view 4

Posted by curson on June 04, 2006

This has (of course) not been taken by me, but I found out about it some times ago (mid of May, I guess) on Livejournal with a random pictures fetcher. Actually, the author of the picture itself takes very nice pictures (something that can be easily find out by looking at his livejournal).

view of moscow

I don’t know what captured me of this picture, but the more I look at it, the more I love it.
Maybe it’s because, in part, it shows Moscow as charming as I remeber it to be, or maybe because here is pictured what most amazes me of that city: it’s incredibly regal decadence. There’s something magic about it… even inexplicable that attracts me so much!

Anyway, my personal thanks to kopen-zla, and enjoy the picture! ;)
